Identifying political affiliations

Wilmington, North Carolina StarNews letter writer, Richard C. Graham, from Southport, North Carolina, says “someone needs to speak up” about my view published recently in the paper. (Link below) In response to an editorial, I wrote that the American Democrat Party is dominated by “socialists and other radicals.”

Mr. Graham wrote that I didn’t have the right to “incorrectly characterize the political positions of other citizens.” Aside from the fact that mischaracterizing opponents is a standard practice with Democrats, including their president, I have the American constitutional right to say whatever I choose, although I am careful not to make slanderous or knowingly false statements.

So, let’s examine my comments and Mr. Graham’s responses.

First he defended socialism and said that many Americans are socialists. I don’t doubt that but Graham did not rebut my view that the Democrat Party is dominated by them—in fact, his comment seems to support it. Socialists believe that a central government should plan and control our economy including production and distribution of wealth.

Maybe Mr. Graham doesn’t know that all the Democrat candidates for president promote socialistic policy plans–and that the current Obama administration and Congress is laden with similar-thinking planners.

Graham tells us he is a “liberal independent,” whatever that means. Many scholars and political thinkers suggest that the people who are liberal, progressive, socialist, fascist or Marxist support political policies proposed by these people.

Strangely, Mr. Graham claims he is a former “Republican.” That is a radical change in political association—analogous to a Jew joining the National Socialist Party (Nazi) or a Catholic reverting to atheism. Radical means extreme.

Radicals favor fundamental or revolutionary change in current practices, conditions or institutions. President Obama ran on that platform and has expressed views and implemented policies to carry out his pledge to “fundamentally change” America.

Everyone knows that radical socialists control our federal government, except those oblivious to political events during the past seven years, or delusional about political reality.
